Andrew Davies , Minister for Enterprise , Innovation and Networks, officially opened the new facility where he met company directors and staff.
Currently employing seven people with plans for expansion, Phytovation Ltd will produce high quality plant extracts for use in the pharmaceutical and associated industries at the facility and will use the latest equipment and skilled workforce to produce the highest quality products.
Mr. Davies said:
“Our bioscience sector is without doubt one of the best in the world in terms of research and development and manufacturing. We have a wide range of such leading-edge companies throughout Wales and Phytovation Ltd is the latest in a long-line that has decided to base its facilities here.
The Welsh Assembly Government is pleased to have been able to support the company with an RSA grant and business support. By providing a first-class business environment – through strategic locations, a skilled workforce, high quality property and excellent communications – companies like Phytovation Ltd are endorsing the strengths of Wales through such investment into our economy.”
The enterprise was made possible by partnership and co-operation with Reckitt Benckiser who are the leading supplier of natural senna based laxatives in the world.
Andy Beggin, Managing Director of Phytovation Ltd said:
“Their great experience in the fine milling of senna was essential in the development of this new technology
We have ambitions to develop this technology for other substances, thus making Caernarfon a centre of excellence for this high-tech pharmaceutical milling. None of this would have been possible without the assistance and practical support from the Welsh Assembly Government and other local bodies such as the University of Wales , Bangor , enabling us to bring this project to fruition on time and on budget.”
